Looking for %SEARCH TERM%? Welcome here’s the information you’re looking for!
Firstly what are search engine keywords, and why all the fuss?
Well very simply: Internet search engines search for certain keywords or key sentences on the world wide web. These are the words or sentences we type into Google, Yahoo, Bing or any other search engine. Therefore the use of search engine keywords cannot be overemphasized as key to search engine optimization for any website.
But this we know, and will form part of many future articles, even exploring what is the best free keyword suggestion tool.
Today I’d like to concentrate on using search engine keywords for offline businesses.
Let’s take a hypothetical case of Anne, who’s been crocheting blankets for the past 5 years. She’s seen a gradual increase in demand and is now wondering whether she could leave her job and start a full-time home-business. The first question is: “Is there enough interest in Crocheted blankets to support a business?” The next question is: “How do I find out?”
Well Anne could spend 10′s of thousands on a consultant, or she could turn to the internet and use search engine keywords as a niche finder. What do I mean?
If someone is interested in buying a crocheted blanket, chances are they’re going to Google “Crocheted blanket(s)”. Wouldn’t it be great if we had an idea of how many people actually search for this every month (These are the search engine keywords)? Even better: How many use these search engine keywords in Anne’s area? But surely this research is either going to have Anne selling her left arm, or requires a Phd to find the answer.
Not so. Google have thought of this and have a fantastic tool (Which by the way, uses the exact search engine keywords that customers are searching on) which is simple to use. “Google Adwords Keyword Tool” is free and one of the best to find search engine keywords.
All Anne has to do is go to the search engine keywords tool and enter her search engine keywords: “Crocheted blankets” in the “Word or phrase” box: Select “advance search or filter”: Select location and language – hit search!
Now you’ll see the following for “crocheted blankets” or any search containing one or more of these search engine keywords:
Global Monthly Searches; 90,500
Local monthly searches; 880
But if we study these search engine keywords that people have searched on we see some other interesting searches:
“how to crochet” had 6,120,000 global searches and 22,200 local searches.
So there are a lot more people interested in learning how to crochet than interested in crocheted blankets!!
So maybe Anne should also consider starting Crochet classes… you get the idea!! Do you see how search engine keywords are invaluable to offline businesses.
Whether you’re an affiliate marketer, SEO specialist a home business entrepreneur or someone wanting to start a business, search engine keywords are the gateway to success.
